Anyone play Madden for the Wii yet?

I have NCAA 08 for the PS2, so I feel like it would be a waste to buy Madden for the Ps2... because I generally only play 1 football game per year on it.

i'm hoping that the Wii version will have something worthwhile for soem fun living room multiplayer... (we already enjoy wii sports all the time)...

So if anyone got it... how about a preview???
 
I played last years version on the Wii and REALLY did not like the controls...but you may like them. I'd recommend Madden for one of the next generation systems if you have one (PS3/360) as it is getting very good reviews...if not, I'd buy PS2.
 
I've heard that some people like the Wii controls and others don't. I haven't played it myself. I'm still playing Madden 03 on my PS2. I can't justify buying a new game that's pretty much the same as the old one every year.
 
FWIW, ratings of the different versions of Madden 07 from Gamerankings:
PS2: 84.4%
Wii: 81.6%
360: 80.7%
PS3: 77.9%
 
Madden is absolutely superior on XBOX. Next in line is the PS2, followed by 360 and finally on the PS3. I've never played it on the Wii.

It's faster, smoother, and it honestly looks better on the regular xbox.

Hopefully you are talkin about 07 only 🙂

Madden 08 on Xbox360 runs MMUUCCHH better than last year and is tons better in my eyes. I may actually get back into football games this year after trying madden out.

But as of last year I would have agreed with you having only played the Xbox360 and Wii versions.

Yes, I was talking about 07. I havent played 08 yet. I have my copy reserved, but I didnt pick it up last night. I've heard good things about 08 on other consoles, but I'll believe it when I see it.

 
Please let us know your first impressions of 08 for the wii if you buy this!!!! InquireingAT minds wanna know!
 
I just came back from picking it up but I'm at work right now. I will post my opinion of tonight
 
Even though a lot of the reviews didn't pick up on it, there were many complaints about the AI in the 07 Wii version from Madden fans. For example, the secondary was way too easy to burn. Apparently, the Wii version was, as many Wii games are, aimed at the casual audience and the AI was made easier. I didn't try it myself, nor am I big football game fan, but I read that complaint quite a bit.
 
I played it for a half hour last night and so far not impressed.

Likes:
Catching and swatting the ball
Stiff arm and juke
Kicking (way too easy IMO, is that good or bad? 😛)
The idea of the passing system (needs more refinement)

Dislikes:
Feels too cartoony and fast
Picking plays takes longer than it should (compared to 360)
Sometimes when I hike the ball it automatically passes to the primary receiver (I found a new way to hike the ball without doing that but it is a little annoying)
Tackling
Using the directional pad to pass to receivers; it is more confusing in the heat of the moment than 360 or PS2/3

Some of the explanations may not be clear but I typed it up quickly. If you have any questions just ask

No actually you don't. They have two modes of play: with ("advanced") or without nunchuck. I haven't tried it yet but the nunchuckless mode supposedly lets you do simple offense and defense moves and lets the computer do the rest. I guess its a way to let less experienced people play the game
 
So basically how does the wii controlls work with a game like madden.. I mean, do you have to like move your arms like you are running, flick the controllers twords your reciever to throw etc? Is it super dumbed down to work with the wiimote ( like wii baseball ) ?
 
In 07, you make a slight passing motion to pass. You juke and do other moves by moving the remote and nunchuck in or out. You punt by hitting a button then raising up the remote as fast and straight as possible. I found it a lot better than the traditional controls, although some maneuvers were really hard to pull off outside of practice. I often ended up getting burned on defense because I would try to swat and instead would jump.
 
Got it today and only played it for about 30 minutes so far. My previous experience with Madden was 06 on the PC.

I must say Im a bit disappointed. As much as I love the Wii when it works well (Tiger Woods might be the greatest game ever), Maden doesnt seem to work well. SOme gesture based functions seem to be delayed from when you do the gesture and when it registers, and its easy to mix up a forward with a side swipe at times. And I may be smoking crakc but I cant find a create a player anywhere. That was my favorite thing to do, create myself and stick me in the game, please tell me its there somewhere.


Ill play it more extensively tomorrow and post any updates.

Where did you buy it? I ask because most stores won't take it back once you open it. If it's a defect you can exchange it for the same game, but thats not what you are doing.

Ebay, preordered it for $35.

Anyhoo, here's a list of other crappy 08 features:

1. ALL players the same height. I mean WTF?!?!?!?!?
2. Impossible not to get a 100% perfect kick
3. Kick return middle almost a guaranteed TD, 6 in a row and counting
4. Impossible to get off a block on defense.
5. You can run the QB back 20 yards and still throw perfect passes
6. NO create a player-team-fan etc...
7. No pointer assist for selecting defense players.
