Didn't see any mention of this here. Is it any good? Reviews are decent, but I wonder how good it is without a theme to go off. I mean Lego Star Wars and Lego Batman took well known characters from their respective universes with unique abilities and threw them into an interactive lego world. How does City work?

Mostly looking at it for my cousin who will be down for a few weeks this summer and as it typically rains every afternoon in South Florida, well...gotta have stuff to do inside as well. That said, I have been somewhat interested in it but am hesitant without knowing whether it's a keeper or not.

I have enjoyed all of the previous Lego games but have no interest in getting a Wii U so I don't know anything about this one, sorry.

I didn't figure many people played it. Maybe I'll take a chance on it. No place around here rents wiiu games and I really don't wanna sign up for game fly for one game. I usually buy and keep my games until I sell a system and then the whole collection goes with it.

Same. I love open world games, and the Lego games have always been good. But I really have no interest in the Wii U. I've never understood the goal of that console and don't have much hope for it being successful.

I would have bought this day one. In a way, it reminds me of Lego Island. That game is one of my favorites ever. I love open world Lego games.

I don't own a Wii U, and unless I get it for extremely cheap, I won't ever own one.

I would love to have that game ported (successfully and not like crap) to the PC so I could play it. :(

If you've never had a gamefly, I think you can get the first month for free or for a discounted rate. So if you want to check it out but aren't sure if you want to purchase it, you should look into that deal.

Yeah, I may look into it. Dunno yet...still researching this game to see what people think (don't necessarily trust metacritic stuff).

So i took a chance on it and played a bit of it. It's quite a pleasent surprise. It has the right amount of humor, some funny movie references, and they use the gamepad really well. While you are exploring the city, the gamepad acts as your "personal communicator". Basically in the game you get a tablet like device that acts as your phone, police scanner, and interactive city map. That device is controlled by your gamepad. SO when someone calls you their voice comes from the gamepad as if they were on the phone for real which is pretty cool. If you turn the volume down on the gamepad then it comes from your TV or receiver. You also can interact with the map and mark places you want to go to and follow the route it gives you like a gps. It shows certain hidden objects and you can scan for them. Probably my favorite thing is finding hidden criminals. If someone is hiding where you can't see them there are spots that let you scan for them. You hold down A and hold up the gamepad toward the TV and look at the screen. The screen looks somewhat like a thermal imager or x-ray machine. All potential bad guys show up as yellow glowing people and you point the crosshair at them and it will check if they are a criminal hiding or not. You can zoom in and out during this too and when you find someone it will mark them on your map so you can make an arrest.

The game runs only at 30fps but I have not really noticed it deviate from that and the game looks decent from a visual standpoint. Overall I am happy I took a chance on it, it's fun and not stressful at all. With the humor thrown into the mix it is a nice change of pace from the harder and more stressful titles I have been playing. It's also similar to GTA in that passersby will make random comments and small conversation pieces that can be quite funny at times. The game is obviously themed in a way that is more juvenile than most titles, but that isn't a terrible thing when it works well.

The worst part...load times. Horribly long and they are plenty.

Same here. When I saw the preview articles, I was like "yes, this is going to rock", then saw it was only for the Wii U and was like "Dammit, that sucks."

Hopefully, one day it makes its way to the PC.
