Yes, I know this goes in GH. No one replied to sh!t in there, so I'm putting it in here. I just need a few answers real quick.

If you play GW, please post a quick description of your specs. Especially video card & processor, and how is the performance on your setup. I'm trying to figure out if the purchase of a Quadro FX 2000 will let me keep playing Guild Wars with my wife. (Quadro FX 2000 ~ GeForce FX 5800)

video: 6800 GT, AGP (wanting to go to FX 2000 or 3000, possibly 4000)
procs: dual Xeon 2.66
and it plays just fine @ 1280x1024.

I don't get what you meant. You trying to get a new PC or what? Why are you downgrading your 6800GT?

Quadro is not a card intended for gaming.

GeForce FX generation is the worst engineered generation. It has a design flaw in memory architecture that prevented every product except the last FX5900 from being a decent performer.

hehe the peeps I used to play guildwars with (I still keep in touch with some of them) are now ranked 15th in the guild ladder ^^

I want to put a rendering card back in my machine, because the 6800GT renders like sh!t. The cards primary use will be 3D Studio Max, but me and my wife play GW together, so I need to get one that is atleast capable of playing GW @ 1280x1024. I know the 4000 can, but if I can use a 2000 and save $450, well...

both of you should quit guildwars and play runesacape. it can be played with any card on the market... and its free.

I used to play GW on my laptop, which had an on-board Intel chip. I had to tweak a few settings, but it worked with only occasional video lag. Of course I didn't get the gorgeous picture that most new video cards would get ya.

It's not the actual rendering that they help with, but the setting up of the scene. Rendering is all about processor & RAM (with some hd in reference to reading / writing). But in setting up of a scene, especially a complicated one, a rendering card (and it's drivers!!) makes all the difference in the world.

CPU: AthlonXP 2600+
Video: GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (128 MB)

GW performs very well on my system. I don't remember what resolution I have it set at, but I believe it's somewhere around 1152 or 1280 with medium detail settings.

You're having problems with a 6800GT? I used to play GW with a 128mb 6800nu and it was fine. Perhaps you could look into going to AMD socket 939 instead? And maybe OC the 6800gt a little?

I re-read the thread, this post is probably useless to you, but oh well. I would assume a newer, faster Quadro would help in GW compared to an older, slower one.
