Question for you?
I have a kdc-7009 deck and its having a problem with cdr reading.. When i had this deck brand new until one month ago (about 7 months) it had no problem with reading cdr's nomatter if they were sony, kodak, or a ghetto brand. However, now ALL my cdr's crackle when playing in it. FRESHLY burned cdr's do it too, cdr burn speeds tweaked.. all to no avail. Regular CD's (pressed) have no problem and plays perfectly.
Is there any remedy to this (magical thing i can do to my deck) or do i have to buy another deck, for this one is kaputz?

My kenwood in the car play's em just fine, I make sure to use the Close CD option in Easy CD creator, but other than that, nothing special.

Use good cd-r's like the Sony audio ones (work really good).
Don't even touch the Maxell audio though, pure garbage (my sony changer skips like a madman....and the disc doesn't have a scratch :Q)

I have a Kenwood RR-500E (or something like that, it was a deck that only Crutchfield sold) and it plays CD-Rs like a champ after two years. I won't be buying another MASK unit though.

Thanks for the replies. The first thing I'm going to do is prolly buy a lens cleaner. Could a dirty lens really be the cause of this? hmm i wonder.. :D

I had the same problem with my Kenwood. I tried a lens cleaner and better CDRs. Nothing worked. So, I went out and bought a Pioneer. The Pioneer has absolutely no problems with any brands of CDRs and doesn't care at what speed I burned the music at.

It definitely could be the problem. CDR's are written differently than factory pressed CDs and your lens might have trouble reading them if it isn't cleaned. Of course a CD lens cleaner will only help temporarily. Eventually you may have to replace the deck with a newer one.

It worked!
went to my local longs drugs and bought a (wet) lens cleaner. It worked remarkably. My cds now all play clearly.
To the person that said that its a temporary solution? Couldnt you do it each time that there is a problem, or does the lens wear out or something?

thanks

Depends on if Kenwood used a glass or plastic lens. If it's glass, it'll more than likely work forever but more and more often manufacturers are cheaping out and using plastic lenses. Glad it worked for you.
