Do you still play any of the games?
For what I have gathered......The Tribes games out there is:
(Tribes 1) www.playtribes.com (Plays in the browser like Quake Live)
(Legions which is like Tribes) http://legions.instantaction.com (Plays in the browser too)
(Tribes Next which is Tribes 2) www.tribesnext.com (download the game & patch)
(Legends another game like Tribes) http://legendsthegame.net/ (Another game like Tribes. However this one seems to have a very, very small playerbase)
There is also the Starsiege Tribes game client which is what PlayTribes pretty much is. I can't find any reals sites for it anymore. I know there was a patched version with fixed servers listing.
Would there be a reason to download Starsiege Tribes if they have PlayTribes.com? Well it depends on the player base really. Which has more players?
Anyways. Check these games out and enjoy. The style of Tribes has kinda gone away.
If you know any more Tribes like games or mods for other games please post them.
However let's try and find the ones that have the biggest player base. A Tribes game is only as good as the people that play them.
I should also talk about the last retail game Tribes Vengeance. They tweaked the game play. Some fans were not pleased. It also had bugs. Which a patch was suppose to come out and was canceled. The developments just dropped the game, the sales of the PS2 game didn't help either.
The only console Tribes game I can think of was a modified version of Tribes 2 on PS2 called Tribes Aerial Assault. It was rushed out the door & lacked any type of weather effects, lacked chat too.
However it still managed to be really fun and offered two player online on one system against 14 others, making it 16 total and single player & two player offline, but the bots were meh. It did last for quite awhile and gained a cult following.
If you have never tried Tribes. Give em a whirl and post your thoughts.
I mean they are the only games I can really think of, where you have jet packs strapped to your back. Now I know the whole CTF, open terrain, vehicles thing has been done.
