I was just purusing their site yesterday, since I figured I would take a look at some of their other monitors. Well, I went to the page of the A90F+, which is the model I own, and I noticed that they have changed the amount of time on the warranty from three years to one year, and only for this model(the A90F+), the A70F+, and all their models that you usually see at Comp USA, Best Buy etc. Really the only CRTs that they changed the warranty on are my model and the 17" version of my model, and also about five or six laptops.

If you bought the A90F+ or the A70F+ prior to April 1st 2003, you still get the three year warranty, but if not, and if you were under the impression that you were getting the good ole' Viewsonic 3 year warranty, think again. I believe this might have something to do with the fact that they don't make much profit on these monitors because they always have rebates on them, so they figure why warranty them for so long.

Funny thing is that I bought mine on March 28th, and returned it three times before I found one that was up to snuff imho, and the monitor I currently have now was brought home on March 31st, THANKFULLY! It just kind of pisses me off though, because all these big stores are still listing it with a three year warranty for anyone who buys one. I guess they don't know it's changed.

Well, if you have either of these crts, or any of the laptops that you can buy at the big computer store chains, you may want to check it out. Oh, I think this whole thing might also have to do with the fact that these are all UltraBrite models, and they probably are worried that they will burn out faster if you always leave that option on. Maybe that's what they're worried about. Who knows.

Oh, another funny thing I noticed is that the E series, which are just rebadged A series replicas, or vice-versa, have not changed, which is what leads me believe it's not a quality issue but more of a price issue, since they don't have rebates on those ones, and a few of them are exact replicas of other Viewsonic monitors. I fired off an angry email to VS, and they told me it had nothing to do with quality, but more with money that could be passed along to me, the consumer. yea right!!!

I have three Viewsonic monitors. The oldest is a 1994 17 inch PT770 professional series that has been running solid all this time.

My other 2 are PF790 19inch professional series running a couple of years.

Viewsonic makes good reliable monitors.

Thanks for the information. Hard drive companies have also recently gone from 3 years to 1 year warranty. They want you to purchase additonal years for a fee.
