Anyone own/use a Gateway 600XL laptop?

I'm thinking of getting this for a desktop replacement for college next year. Any complaints about it?

And does anyone know if there are any audible fans or if it is quiet except for the harddrive?

I think it's a good choice. Gateway has the best price out of all the Major manufacturers. I'd get it over a dell

I'm sure it has at least one fan. As for how noisy it is, I have no idea. I was looking at the Gateway 600X. I almost got it instead of the Dell Inspiron 8200. I'm quite happy with my I8200 (I'm not sorry I got it over the Gateway). I just read a review of the Gateway in some magazine (PC World, PC Mag, CS???) and it didn't do so well. It had a few problems that would drive me crazy (poor keyboard, flimsy design).

BTW, my biggest concern with Gateway is whether they will be around in 3 years to support it.

PC Magazine has an article on laptop comparisons. The Gateway 600XL & Sony GRX570 weren't top choices, not even close. My choice would be the IBM A31P, mobile workstation for CAD.
