What are your requirements?Looking for a gaming monitor. Just curious what you think of the XL2546K for anyone who owns one?
What are your requirements?
Details. The key is always in the details.
You are looking for a gaming monitor.I am more asking what someone's experience with it is and if they like it, think its worth the money etc...
I am asking because I have bought like 4 gaming monitors that I have sitting next to me. And I see lots of people over at Blurbusters forums who some swear on the XL2546K, but I am finding it to be only very slightly "smoother" (with dyac+) than like lets say the Asus VG259qm. Trying to figure out which monitor to keep. I have been gaming on each for a week trying to decide and I just dont think the XL2546K is worth the price tag just because of dyac+. The monitor is not very good other than dyac+.
You are looking for a gaming monitor.
So I am asking: what are your requirements.
You have 4 monitors already and you are able to see that XL2546K is only slightly smoother than other because of motion blur reduction technology from the Zowie's specs.
VG259QM is unanimously the best 240(280Hz OC'ed), 1080p, IPS display, with lowest input lag, good response times, even for 280 Hz. And its IPS, compared to BenQ's TN. If you care about colours - it might be a game changer.
What other monitors do you have apart from those two?
Every 24.5 inch IPS display uses EXACTLY the same AU Optronics panel. VG259QM, Lenovo Legion Y25-25, all of Acer's IPS displays, Dell Alienware AW2521HF/HFL/HFA/HFLA, and that MSI MAG251RX - all use the same AU Optronics panel. Its obviously dependent on how the manufacturer fine tunes the display, but in general you should see similar performance, forgetting about different overdrive settings for different manufacturers, because that is exactly what differs between manufacturers.I dont really care about colors. More into the gaming performance. I do want low input lag and good motion clarity. My problem is I really wanted to try this XL2546K and have it be like the easy obvious choice than all the others but it really isnt. Its not worth $550 so I am trying to decide if I should keep it for the very small dyac+ improvements over the Asus.
I also have a Acer XF250Q and the Lenovo 240hz IPS panel(forget model name). The acer I am definitely returning. Its good and I wanted this to be the winner because its the cheapest one. Unfortunately it has a terrible OSD and had bad ghosting, but good otherwise. The lenovo was cheaper than the Asus IPS 240hz but the Asus is way better in the OSD / features department. So Lenovo getting returned too.
On blurbsters the MSI Optix MAG251RX is like #1 for top performing 240hz IPS panels but is like OOS everywhere. So I wasnt able to try that one.

You tell about DyAc+ on BenQ's model. Its motion blur reduction technology. You also have Asus VG259QM, which has Extreme Low MOtion Blur Sync option, which gives you the benefit of using FreeSync/Gsync while this option is on. Have you tried this yet?
General rule of thumb is that framerate capability is more important than Backlight Strobing.
So 280 Hz vs 240 Hz is always for the 280 Hz monitor.
I'd say go for the VG259QM, if you have to make decision very shortly.
Great choiceIll be honest, the 280hz thing is not really even part of the factor. Its not a "stable" 280hz and kind of more gimmicky. The people on blurbusters have stated the the 280z actually leads to more "smearing" anyways, so most run the monitor at 240hz with 40 - 60OD anyways. And since I have the monitor next to me, I can attest to the fact that 280hz is not a "stable 280hz". It fluctuates per game. Some games it will get to 280hz but others it does not.
With that said I am leaning towards the Asus. If the BenQ XL2546K was the same price, I would probably pick the Benq.
