Anyone own an Onkyo SP-500 DVD Player?

It claims it plays VCD's and CD-R's, yet a home movie (English project, not amatuer porn) burnt to disc in VCD format will not play in it. I tried 3 types of discs (Memorex, TDK and K-Hypermedia) all which play in my Apex AD-1500. Anyone know of something that I have to do extra other than put in the disc and press play?

What software did you use to burn the VCD? If I remember correctly, Nero and adaptec burns it with different names, your vcd player might be picky about that.
