Hi Everyone,

I have an Antec 660B case with two front USB ports and 1 front 1394 "firewire" port.

I have an Asus P4S8X motherboard and the pin out for the 1394 on the mobo isn't close to what the Antec case has as described below. I have connected what I have and it's not working. I posted this request under the Motherboards forum and no one responded - I thought I would try here to see if anyone has seen this before.

Antec Case Has:
1 Power Pin labeled "VP"
1 Ground Pin labeled "VG"
Data Pins labeled:
TPA+
TPA-
TPB+
TPB-

Asus P4S8X Has Following Pinout:

Ground
Ground
TPA2+
TPA2-
TPB2+
TPB2-
Ground
+12V

I plugged the TPA+ and TPA- into TPA2+ and TPA2-, TPB+ and TPB- into TPB2+ and TPB2-

Plugged VP into +12V and VG into the Ground pin between TPB2- and +12V.

I don't have two additional ground cables for the remaining two ground pins.

Am I missing something here or is my case Front 1394 just not compatible with this motherboard?

As a side note - the I/O panel 1394 port works just fine so it doesn't look to be an issue with the motherboard itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm, could there be a jumper that enables/disables the whole header? Also, are the pins tall enough to give good contact with the Antec wiring plugs? On my A7V333-R, the plugs don't stay on the teensy little mobo pins worth a darn.

The other thought I had was to try hooking up the A's to the B's instead of A's to A's. That could be risky, so try at your own risk. I'd download the P4S8X manual and try to get a better understanding, but Asus' download page seems to be down again :| Good luck, at any rate.
