anyone own a toshiba laptop with a 192 meg limit on paper, but have put more than that in?

How old and what model is the laptop?

its a PIII 650 mhz laptop, 2775xdvd....

see if there are any bios updates. the older thinkpad 600e's ram max was 288, but i read people putting in 544 successfully. (32MB was onboard). borrow some ram from your friend here and try it out.
