Anyone own a Tempur Pedic mattress?

How good is it, really? I've heard many people who say they love it; others say they hate it.

Looking for opinions from actual owners. I seriously need a new bed and I want the most comfortable mattress I can buy. I've heard Stearns & Foster is good as wel, but the Tempur Pedic is the only "mattress" that seems fundamentally different, and it promises a fundamentally different level of comfort.

Thoughts?

Before you spend all that money on a Tempur Pedic mattress, go to a foam store, they have the exact same foam, at less than half the price. Tempur Pedic spends a lot of money to convince people that they have some exclusive, super foam, but it is all a very slick sales promotion that you are paying big money for. You may not believe me, but go down to the foam store and give their foam a try before you buy a matress, you can save a lot of money.

Got the pillows. Love them.

Looking to get the mattress or equivalent soon! There are some better prices out there, not sure what the brand name is, though.

We will probably get the Tempur Pedic brand, though. My husband loves his pillow sooooo much, and it has helped his back problems a lot.

I slept on one for a few nights when I was pregnant and it was heaven.

Go to Sharper Image and try it out... I think they are worth it.

They have these on display at my local Brookstone store. Wow. :Q They're expensive, but I'd totally pick one up if I could afford it. I'm tempted to do what Isla did and just pick up the pillows though. :)

They seem cool, but damn they are so expensive. What about those air mattresses, how are they?

My husband's uncle was here this weekend and he has one of the adjustable air ones... he isn't that happy with it. But, he is a huge man... 6'4 and close to 300lbs, so I'm sure any mattress he uses takes a beating.

Oh, and duh, I meant Brookstone, like MSantiago said. (I'm getting old, all stores seem the same now, lol) That is where we got the pillows! And then our chiropractor told us he could get them for us cheaper. Just the pillows alone have helped us with our backs... it is important to stay properly aligned when sleeping, and the pillows do the trick.

Anyway, if you can get a doc to call it medically neccessary, insurance *might* cover part of it. We will order ours though the chiropractor 'cause it will be about 30% cheaper.

I have a tempur pedic pillow, absolutely love it, though I would never want a mattress using the same material.

Just a warning, for the first few days or weeks its going to smell horrible!! some chemicals or something.

I've done on research on Tempur Pedic mattresses and pillows and decided they're still way to expensive for me but I have found a cheaper alternative.

While you're doing your preliminary research make sure to read this and these reviews.

Unless you're a Brookstone employee or know someone who is (I've heard they get discounts of around 60% off a Tempur Pedic mattress) then consider buying from Abed.com which is the same type of mattress but significantly cheaper. Just a forewarning if you order their brochures to be snail mailed to you, their sales people will call you.

Guys, there are cheaper places to get tempur-pedic pillows than brookstone. At a certain auction site you can get them. You can PM me if you want, there is a seller on the auction site who is selling the pillows separately without bidding. I have no affiliation with him, all I know is he's offering pillows for cheap, but there is no warranty on them like there is on the ones from brookstone, and no tags.

The 4" classic pillow 22" x 15" x 4" is going for $35 + $8 shipping and 2 dollars for each additional one, and the XL pillow, I forget dimensions is selling for $45 + 8 shipping and $2 shipping for each additional pillow.

Uhh, doesn't that make the actual source of the pillows apocryphal, at best?

If it's that much cheaper than a retail Tempur-Pedic and has no markings indicating that it's a Tempur-Pedic, chances are, it's not a Tempur-Pedic!

Thanks, but no thanks...

i've wanted to get this mattress ever since college...
but i've told myself that i'd wait til i get married.

and when i got married,
i backed out and got a sealy crown jewel instead.

i wasn't so sure how fun it would be in foam bed. ;)

perhaps, when my wife's pregnant, i'd think about it then.

Nah, it's a tempur-pedic. OK, let me show you one of his auctions. The cover says tempur-pedic. Unless the inside isn't, than I would be pissed. Anyway, look for the seller marrsinc on ebay.

I strongly recommend trying a Latex Mattress whereever you can find one. It is equal to TEMPUPEDIC but CHEAPER.

Check out prices here.

I bought one from these guys. I got a king size mattress and the monster weighs more than 200 LBS. :)

only way i can move this thing buy myself (because they aren't stiff like spring based mattresses) is to get under it and lift it on my back.
