I don't have a Sharp, but I have 42" Westinghouse 1080p LCD "TV" in my bedroom and it's gorgeous. Sharp should be even better, but after seeing the picture on my Westy, I don't know how that's possible. Go for it.

Do you have a PC hooked up to your Westy? How well does that work?

I had that exact same model Sharp.

I brought it back for the HP model which was identical in every way (same panel) except it had HDMI and DVI inputs as well as another 2 composite connections.

And it displayed the actual 1366 or whatever resolution (1368x780?) that the Sharp could not.

You must have had a different model!

I saw the westy at Best Buy and it looked terrible compared to every set near it (no other 1080's, just 720ps!). I asked the dude what was wrong with the picture and he was like "well the picture quality isn't that great on these westinghouse sets". That didn't seem it though - the picture looked more stretched out than anything, not the fault of the TV.

LOL! Never EVER trust BB! I hear they use real HD content over HDMI connections on the high-end TVs ONLY! The cheaper ones they connect using standard DVD/TV conent via coaxial cables. Did you check the connections?

Stretched out? Sounds like to me they are broadcasting 480i content then using the 'zoom' function on the TV.

I know two people who have them and while the resolution was stellar, I always noticed the backlight:(

My parent's 42" Westinghouse is nice, no backlight problems. It looked horrible at bestbuy as well, because they had it hooked up to standard def, not the HD stream that the others were hooked up to.
