Anyone own a Samsung DLP?

Is it true? I've heard they lag pretty badly (1+ second) in movies and games so that sound doesn't match the video, and pressing buttons is also delayed.

It might only be for the models with "wobulation" type chips where the DLP chip only has 640 pixels horizontally and uses a fast moving mirror to double that into 1280.

Some electrical devices have built in lag, such as DVR's and DVD recorders. It would not surprise me if they has SOME lag but this is usually only an issue in external equipment such as receivers(which is why they have a delay feature) and the aforementioned DVR's. I wouldn't be worried

IIRC on the avsforums, some of the 42" ones were really bad about this while the same model in a 46" wasn't as noticeable...

I have a 50" DLP and I have never experienced lag at all in movies or games. I only heard PS2 lags on the TV hooked up component, but I've never had a PS2 hooked up component video so I wouldn't know about that.

XBox and XBox 360 work lag free, as does watching movies in both of the consoles.

I own a 61in Sammy DlP. Absolutely great TV. As far as lag I have never seen any in movies or my xbox 360. Now I did run across some issues with the TV and the original xbox other then that I haven't seen anything.

I believe it is a well known problem on the xxx7W and other sets.

I think it only affects 480i input.

So what would I have to do to correct it? Use composite cables from my PS2?

No, if the PS2 has progressive scan capability(not sure) then you would hook it up via component and use that

From what I've read you can't fix it. You need an external box to allow you to modify the delay.

I have one of the 2nd gen sammys so mine was before the problem cropped up.

Well, I guess I won't be buying a Samsung then. I can't deal with the lag, and I do use my PS2 as my primary DVD player.

Might want to check the 4th gen Sammy DlPs believe they solved many of these issues with the newest sets. Love my Sammy though that is for sure.

How much are you wanting to spend? Because if you're not too limited you may want to go for the latest 5th gen models with 1080p.
