I was thinking of buying this monitor. If you own it how is it? I was looking at amazon and onvia to buy it. Is there any coupons on this monitor and is there a better one for the same price.

I've owned one for about a year and a half now. The monitor has been great - no problems whatsoever. Pictures are very sharp, nice colors...now if it was flatscreen it would be the perfect monitor.

I recently purchased one and receive the second one for free or two for the price of one. Anyway, the pictures are clean and the monitor looks nice but not too thrilled about the dinky adjustment buttons that's in that pop up panel. Not all that big a deal if you don't fiddle fu_k with those damn things as much as I do from time to times.

Using Samsung 900 IFT. First one arrived DOA. Replacement works great.
I have since bought a Samsung 700 IFT for other PC on my LAN...again very pleased.
Anybody have comments on Samsung LCD's vs competition? At CompUSA today caompared a Samsung, NEC. Compaq and Viewsonic. The Viewsonic image was gorgeous...Samsung sort of dark..NEC 2nd best.
I know comparing monitors in retail store is a poor test but the Viewsonic really stood out.

Thar.

Does the $50 off $200 electronics coupon work for the monitor? I just used it to grab a Panasonic DVD player. After stacking $145 worth of coupons, gift certificate, webcerts, and the rebate, it came out to $95!!! By the way, go to techbargains . com to look for that coupon I mentioned.

What model Samsung TFT? I bought the 700 TFT once, it looked great a first, but I noticed more and more dead pixels near the center of the screen, after a lot of hassle I finally managed to return it. I would have gladly traded for the one on display but that had bunches of dead pixels as well :(

I still think LCD displays have a ways to go before becoming acceptable for desktop use...(slow response times, especially noticeable in 2d games, motion blur(woohoo a feature right? hehe) in 3d games...dead pixels :) poor scaling at low resolution(depends on brand of LCD though), etc

I'm very happy with a Samsung 710S that I bought and still have, as well as my Samsung 750p which I'm currently using...As far as I can tell the 750p just about matches the 950p spec for spec(the recommended res on it is 1280x1024@75/85hz which it does extremely well), it even runs 1600x1200 pretty well despite the 16" visibility.

Monitor's pretty darn nice at anything below 1600x1200. At that point, it's pretty awful compared to other monitors. My viewsonic PS790 is better, and that's not saying much. I also use a 21 inch Sony Trinitron and of course, that's nice. If you stay under 1600x1200, you'll be fine.

Whats wrong with it at 1600x1200? It runs 75Hz refresh rate which is totally acceptable.

Well im most likly never going to use that high of a resolution. But 75Hz should be enough to view it. I think im gonna buy the 950P at onvia tomorrow. Its only $269 and free shipping. I cant pass that up.

I have the 950p and i'm happy with it, the only complaint is that its not flat. If flatness is a big thing to you get a different monitor. But for text crispness and clarity it can't be beat.

I run my 950p 1600x1200@78mhz, it looks better than the 75mhz mode and the monitor handles it fine. You might need something like Powerstrip to custom adjust the refresh(I use V_ctrl because I have a voodoo card).

i love my 950P. Matches up very favorably to the 21" Trinitron i have at work. For just a few dollars over $200 (have Staples pricematch somewhere like Onvia, and throw on a 40 off 200 coupon), this is an incredible buy. That it's not flat isn't a big deal to me, i don't see that "fishbowl" effect that some people talk about, and like i said, i spend 8-12 hours a day in front of a flatscreen at work. Maybe the curvature on the Samsung isn't as bad as other monitors, maybe it's just me, who knows...

But if you can come up with a better monitor for the price, i'd like to see it. I think i'll be waiting for quite a while. Let me put it to you this way.... i don't think i'd be willing to trade my 950P for another monitor... how's that for a positive recommendation? :D

i'll second the 950p. It's a great monitor for relatively little cost of admission. I actually like the pop out controls for the most part. That shouldn't be a big deal compared to picture quality concerns. It is fairly deep but that's pretty standard for 19" models. I still miss my 17" at times though for that particular reason. Or I need to get a better comp desk setup.

Go for it.

I ordered a 900NF from amazon.com and was able to use their $50 off $200 coupon. I'm guessing you can use it for any of thier monitors. Samsung has a rebate program going on for a couple of their monitors. Not sure if the 950P is included though. Check it out at http://samsungmonitor.com/

Mark.

P.S. I checked out out, $30 rebates on the 955DF/955SL and $100 on some of their LCD displays.
