Anyone own a conversion van?

I'm thinking about buying a conversion van when I have the money for it in a couple years, but I don't know a lot about it. I think it would be cool to take a vacation driving around the country living out of the van. I'm in the market for used with around 100k, maybe about 10 years old, so like a 94 or newer.

After looking on ebay motors, it seems dodge, ford, gmc, and chevy all make them. Any imports? I definitely need a high-top, as I am tall, preferrably one with a good amount of overhead storgage.

Cany anyone offer their insight? Do they usually run well? etc...

Any info/opinion is appreciated.

I used to really want one when I was a little kid, but I eventually realized that only hicks take their immediate families on road trips across the country in conversion vans.

Have you looked into a 70s VW camper?

when I was a kid playing on the farm where my dad worked, I knew a guy who lived out of a green VW camper. He was very good at carpentry and made a wooden VW front tire cover. He had a doberban-mix dog named murt with one blue eye and one brown.

^ translation: I don't wanna be that guy. I am a pretty big guy so VWs are too small for me any way. I'm wondering what the biggest one is without being an RV or a VW

I won't take that as an insult. In fact, I wasn't thinking about taking any family along, just me. I figure it's cheaper than a hotel, and with gas prices what they are, it makes a lot of sense.

So you're saying no one at AT OT would know, everyone drives BMWs and Nissans here so I need to go find some hicktown forum and ask?

Heh... owning one doesn't mean you have to live out of it. I'm 6'2ish, not too small for me. But if they don't float your boat, that's cool. I don't really have anything to say about the conversion vans.
