Though there is very little talk about Prescott other than its heat output, I've managed to hear a few people claim that the new LGA775 chips overclock like crazy (4.0GHz and up). I've yet to find a post from anyone with any experience doing this, however. What does it take to push one of these chips to 4.0GHz? Motherboard and RAM suggestions, as well as pertinent CPU info would be great. :)

Yeah - very few LGA 775 fans here. The fact that its a Prescott core, you need a new M/B, a new video card and maybe new memory I guess scares a lot of people away - LOL.

Im using the GigaByte 3D cooler - it's OK -

Wow, $55 and it's only "ok?" That looks like one hell of a cooler.

Correct - looks great - had blue LED's on top. Cooling performance is decent, not great IMHO.

I have two 3.6ghz's that run just fine at 4ghz with a basic (stock-like) cooler. I've never run Prime95 or anything like that, though... I just know they work fine for what I need. :)

i turned my 478 Prescotts up 5%.....not much heat change at all

one is 3.33 or so and one 3.57

here is a load of stuff including screen shots....i too used a Gigabyte heat pipe cooler---fit right in---turn it up and down when DV editing (100% proc use) and the higher speed knocks off 5C from idle---it is freaking loud, not that surround sounds playing games would not drowned it out

BTW I won't clock higher without water cooling as upper 60Cs in summer transcoding DV seems too hot for me-------it idels at 40C in the winter....woo-pee-doo-pee as i want it to do DV which is a heavy usage
