You should be able to hit 166 mhz without a problem at all. Many people have hit higher speeds, around 183mhz. You might want to think about putting a small 486 fan ontop of the heatsink on that chip, they get very hot under normal condition.

the most i ever got was 185 stable w/out artifacts on a v3 2k, just do 5mhz at a time and run artifact tester, if u get a mark, go back down

Most V3 2000's could usually overclock to 166, sometimes even higher up to about 170-180... it's rare for a 2000 to go any higher then that though not impossible of course.

I've got a V3 3000 up to 218MHz here.

Just overclock it in increments of 3-5MHz, and each time run a few demo, benchmarks, games to stress test it for stability, and watch that you don't get any graphical artifacts or similar.

I can tell you with confidence, that they get HOT!!! put a damn fan on the heatsink. Even the TNT2 Ultras didn't get that hot.....

Like said above, screw a 486 fan onto the hs and download Gary Peterson's Overclocker program and jump right to 166 first, then up by 10's to 185 or so then by 5's or less.

My little gem went to 210mz and stayed stable looping 3dmark2k for several hours. I backed it back down then and eventually took the fan off and the cards in my parts box now. Nobody wants to pay more than 30 bucks for them now. Great little cards, had a V3 3k for a bit and now have a V5. Real sorry to see 3Dfx gone.

Same as other, slapped a 486 fan on the heatsink of my Voodoo3 2K and ran it at 170mhz.

Yup, I read that your wrote that, I am not trying to take credit for telling him to put a fan on. I was just basicly agreeing with you and stressing to him by adding another post that he should put a fan on it! Nice overclock you did there too! 210Mhz musta been fast as hell man. For it's time of course...

Peace
