I'm 28 and I've never been on been on a date. I don't think I'm even so unattractive. I am pretty short though (5'5"). In my entire life, there have been 2 girls who have expressed interest in me. One was a random girl at walmart who was possibly underage and the other was a stripper in mexico.
I don't know if the op is telling the truth of not but even if he isn't, I know situations like his happen. I once had a boss who was in his latter thirties. Not rich by any means but not struggling either (own house, car, etc.). However, his face had a lot of scarring on it like he had a bad case of chickenpox or measles at some point in time. Also, he was loosing his hair in an odd sort of way. He had a rather awkward way of acting also. Well anyway, this guy had no luck with the ladies. Wasn't married, no girlfriend, never mentioned a girlfriend.
Now I work somewhere else and there is this nice woman that works there who is desperately looking for a man. She's a very nice person but she's fat.
