Anyone out there using a Linksys WET11 with an AP and their XBOX???

Hey,

I am getting into the Xbox live beta program in about a week and I need to figure out how I want to get my DSL connection down to my XBOX. My DSL line comes in upstairs where my office is, while my Xbox is downstairs, which make for a small problem. I have a home LAN in place with a switch for my desktop computers and a wireless access point for my laptop computers (my wife and I each have a desktop and a work laptop.)

I am thinking of getting a Linksys WET11 to connect my Xbox to my AP and then obviously to the internet and Xbox Live... my only question is that will this signifigantly increase my lag? Signifigantly meaning that I would notice the difference in connection speed or latency between a wired connection to the Xbox and a wireless one.

Does anyone currently have this configuration and if so what do you think?

See this thread for a similar discussion. My guess is you'll probably be fine, but I can't vouch for it personally.

From what I've seen, you shouldn't see any significant latency or slowdown assuming two things:

1.) There are no sources of interference (intermittent or otherwise)
2.) The WET11 has a stable firmware release loaded. http://www.linksys.com/download/vertxt/wet11_fw_ver.txt

Yeah... I got an e-mail about a week ago telling me that I would be in on the 7th of October. So even though I still have to wait a little while I am still stoked!!! Thanks for your thoughts on the WET11, I think I am going to head over to Fry's and pick one up and test er out. I can always take it back... I love Fry's.

Don't give up on getting in on the beta, they are still accepting people... if you get in, PM me and we can play some... if not, PM me when it's released in Nov and we can play some non-beta...

Live is gonna rock....

I won't get the e-mail that allows me to purchase the Live beta kit until sometime this week, and I am assuming that if there is a nda, it will be in there. As long as I am not under nda I will post back with my thoughts and experiences.

I have a laptop now with a wireless card, so I may also try doing some internet connection sharing through the laptop and not incur the cost of the WET11....

I will post back with results...
