Anyone out there besides me starting to get a weak stomach? (Literally, not figuratively)

I've basically always been Lactose intollerant but as of late have discovered my system is also intollerant to Citrus (lemons, limes, oranges).

Woe to the person who stands in the jet-stream from one of my wretched orange juice burps!

Anyone else have similar issues? Don't get me wrong, being able to unleash such vile noxious emissions upon unsuspecting friends and family members is sometimes a blessed gift, but is there anything out there that can help my weak ass stomach cope?

Umm.... No.

I'm VERY lactose intolerant, but I can eat citrus all day long.

I don't think it's a related issue.

Sounds like you are just slowly falling apart. :)

I've had similar problems, plus I have developed allergies over the years, including an allergy to kiwi fruit, which hit me about 6 years ago. Very odd senstation, having your throat swell up so suddenly! :Q

Something to consider is a reaction of bacteria in your system. If you have an excess of yeast in your system (as in, pizza and beer!) the orange juice might cause quite an interesting reaction. You might consider, as an experiment, taking a lot of acidophilous. That will help put the right bacteria back in balance. I am sensitive to yeast and so I balance my diet accordingly... I haven't had a rumbly tummy since.

Of course, it's up to you to do the mystery solving here. Try taking away something from your diet for 3 days and then adding it back... that way, you can 'test' different reactions in your system.

Good luck to you.... and your suffering friends and family memebers!

;)

You are not lactose intolerant!

Citrus (orange juice) is well known to give heartburn or to "repeat" on you. Don't worry, just drink less than you normally do/did. Try cutting it with water.

Isla, what's Acidophilous? Is that a pill i can take or something?

A little mis-balance sounds like what I've got. The OJ 'repeat' factor might be true, but the ungodly foulness I expel is DEFINITELY due to improper digestion.

I'm slowly working my way back to Gerber.

"Repeats" means that when you burp you taste (again) the recent contents of your stomach. Everyone is different. For me peppers/onions do it everytime. Sometimes OJ. Even Tostitos.

acidophilus is a pill/supplement kinda strange, my folks used to keep it around, hadda keep it in the fridge, i think its either like a tums/pepcid stomach acid thing, or i think my dad took it for a lactose thing for a while, then he got over it. course his stomach has a bad valve or somthing, he has reflux/heart burn almost constantly. but yeah all this processed food, is ok for us but it's just not as perfect as the food that god designed for us

LOL, Namuna!

When you consider the junk that is in most of the food we eat, we are probably the biggest threat to the ozone layer. :D

Acidophilus and Bifidus combinations (in capsule form) can be found in most grocery stores (the vitamin section) but the best quality is the refrigerated kind found in health food stores.

What happens is, yeast (bad bacteria) takes over (it literally blooms!)in your gut and starts producing gas. The acidophilus and bifidus helps put things back in balance... but be warned: If you eat/drink a lot of yeast, you will have a lot of yeast in your gut.

Anyway, good luck. Chances are, you have a few different things going on at once, so you will have to do some 'sperimenting before you find the right balance for your digestive system. Everyone is a little different, so don't expect an overnight cure. I can say this for myself: Ever since I became more aware of the processes/reactions in my own digestive system, it has been easier for me to stay healthy and in good shape. Knowlege is power when it comes to good health. Love your gut! :D :D
