I'm looking at purchasing a $1800 TV from Amazon that currently has free Standard Shipping. I live on a 3rd floor condo (no elevator). Does the shipping bring it inside? If so do they charge extra? I called Amazon and they said they'd probably use Eagle shipping.

I've had times where the bastards come to the door, then sit there and say, "Well, we didn't know we had to bring it up, we want more money" even though they're supposed to bring it inside.

So you spend $1800 on a tv, but get cheap instead payin 10-20 bucks to bring it up?

Hopefully they bring it up.
I mean it is a $1800 item you just bought from Amazon. And they better not leave the outside.

If only it was $10-$20. I love that vacant look moving guys get when they finally make it to your home and say they weren't paid enough for the job...

Yeah dartworth, I just spoke to someone at Amazon, and they said they'd bring it in (speaking to someone in India), but I'd like to hear experiences from people who actually purchased such a large item from them.

Are you going for that 56" Samsung DLP? I saw that too. Looks like a nice set.

Can you even call them? I've never been able to find a phone number on their page IIRC...

Thanks, I got in on a Samsung HL-R5667W for $1,811.10 shipped (after A9 discount). They went OOS for a while, and I knew someone was going to cancel their order (or have their CC rejected), so eventually it popped up again. Wow, what a nice HDTV at a super price. Everything, and Firewire inputs to boot! I was going to buy a lesser HDTV locally, but after tax and having to pay for shipping it would have almost cost the same thing!

I don't have a stand for it, so I'll have to have them store it in another room in the meantime. Any suggestions on an inexpensive stand? I was looking at some cheap stands at my local Walmart for ~$110.

Personally, I wouldn't go all out on a nice TV and then cheap-out on a stand.

By far. OneCall is charging $1839 not including shipping. Tack on another $200+ for them to bring it in.

The stands at Wallmart aren't cheap. They carry some decent stuff. I was looking at a Ashton Lane Collection" for like $120. Not bad.

Call 800 directory assistance to get the number. Good luck getting a human on the other end though.

I meant One Call's shipping starts at $150, and that's not the good kind I'd use.

Yeah, the TV is kind of light, I'll have someone at my Condo help me. It is still too big to handle alone.

And yes, I tried Amazon phone CS and I spoke to someone right away.

The TV is supposed to be excellent, and for the price nothing comes close...yet. When 1080p 56" HDTVs are that price I'll upgrade. For now, I guess this will have to do.

Here's a pic of my current stand with my old TV. That TV weighed about 300lbs. Its an Ikea TV stand and I think it cost around $100. Its not bad though you do have to punch holes in the back to get the cables through.
