I'll take that as a "no" from everyone, but just in case, I'll move this up... like so.

I just fell asleep studying for it.

I used to be on an Academic Decathlon back in high school. I got top score in L.A. school district for Physics and got perfect on that Superquiz, but I really didn't care much about the other subjects. Anyways, that's about as far as that went since we didn't go to the state competition. I think the school that did ended up winning the Nationals.

I'm on a team in Omaha, Nebraska. I, to put it mildly, have incredibly negative feelings towards that class. It's not the material, it's the God-awful, piss-poor questions that are asked. Like I, or anyone else, cares who some artist's sister married! Whoever thinks up those questions deserves a slow, painful death.

I think I'm bitter.

I have no idea what that is, but I was on our school's quiz team (called it Academic Bowl). We won our state (Georgia) and then went onto 2nd place nationally with a couple people from another school (two regulars couldn't make the trip to Florida). The only reason they won was because they had an essentially autistic kid who could do complex math problems in split seconds in his head. They took every math question and few others, but it was enough to win. :|

Heckuva lot of fun though. Hey, I won a gold ring and $1500 or something like that (scholarship). :)

Our team got 4th place in nationals in 1997 which is pretty good for the smallest state in the country. Last year we only got 20th place because we were all slackers. This year we're hoping for top 10 again in nationals.

i was on my school's team in 96/97. james e taylor in katy. has anyone broken our nationals score that year yet? anyhow, that was pretty fun, getting lots of medals at nationals. i just barely beat out the dude from california for 1st place in the C category by 25 points. i was fourth in the competition but 3rd on my team, which is kinda funny. lost to chris dawg by 90 points.

my schedule senior year:
calculus
ap biology 2, which was really AD time
ap english, which was really AD time
ap physics 2
lunch
masterworks of literature, which was really AD time
ap economics
homeroom, which was really AD time

My school had scholar bowl, which is the same thing. We whooped some butt hehe. I quit it about halfway through highschool since the coach changed and it wasn't fun anymore.

I was on my HS Quiz Bowl (affectionately termed "Kwiz Bole") team. We were never too serious about it. My Freshman year there was no advisor (the previous one had retired) and we lost our spot in the league. Because of that even when we found a new advisor we were limited to participating in non-league tournaments which were about two per year. You can tell why it was never taken too seriously. Basically it was an excuse for some of the "geekier" kids to talk about politics, computers, and basically shoot the breeze. I was Pres. for my Jr. and Sr. year, which was fun. We made T-shirts one year, the front had the phrase "Kwiz Bole: It ain't just fer smart kids no more." and the back had a number. Mine was Pi, one kid had 381610, and another had the numerical equivalant of Planks Constant (I forget what it is right now). Basically stupid fun. Gotta stop being nostalgic about HS, I'm only a Freshman in College. :)

I was in '98 and '99. Went to nationals both years. w00t! Shawnee Mission South! The jackoffs now get like 3rd or 4th at state...

Acaded was one of my favorite things in high school. Being from a loser state like Kansas, which has basically no chance at nationals, we'd basically spend the whole time going after girls.

I did get 4th in math my senior year, since that's a category that doesn't really require studying.

Ya'll have CLASSES in AD? jeez... My team will win San Antonio regionals easily, but we don't do so well all the time at state.

Fenix, you didn't think I was speaking of the girls on my own team did you?

And police, ha! I could tell you about what me and some of the michigan team found in providence, but I would probably disappear from these forums shortly afterward...

yo guys, our team threw ice down the hotel in san antonio last year. We first used pennies but decided why use money when there's an ice machine? We got everybody mad down there and I actually heard some security guard talk on the walkie thing "kids throwing ice on the fourth floor" haha that was great.

Was in it my Senior year, did well as a "lazy C". Was recruited heavily throughout my years, and our coach was great. Got pulled out of classes and he helped me argue with my Economics teacher that the book was wrong on a couple of answers. Still miss those times.... some of my best friends turned out to be from the team. They were a great crew to work with...
