There won't be any FX-55 on other core than Clawhammer. But there will be a new FX-57 on San Diego core( same has venice, but with 1Meg L2 cache).

Correct information.
There are no plans to revamp the FX55.

Yep, NewEgg definitely appears to have an FX-55 San Diego....
Man, that's the only thing that could make me swap CPUs right now. I do love my 3700+. I hope someone starts a thread with OCing results soon. I think I'm very satisfied in any case for at least a year and then I'll swap out for a dual-core....
What's still funny is that nothing is guaranteed. I'm getting FX-56 speeds now with a 500 MHz overclock Prime stable, which is a bit low compared to some others. Getting the FX-55 SD chip for three times the money guarantees nothing. It's the same core. I'd be p*ssed off if I choked out the money and didn't get 3 GHz on air.... That's a big gamble.

it's a hell of a gamble, and one that isn't worth it.. Or at least I don't think it is..
Stick it out with 2.7 for awhile.. Or sell your 2.7 and try your luck again with another San Diego.
