Anyone notice this about Orbitz?

I was making flight reservations for 6 on Orbitz when I had to step away from the PC. I had to reinput my data when I closed IE. When I did, I found the ticket prices jumped. So I opened another window and tried it again. Again the prices were higher. I went back to the original window and tried accepting the price and it said none available.

I went to Expedia and found the same seats for the original price so I bought them there. On Orbitz the price went from $180/seat to $235/seat in about 4 looks. I know they track people's interest in flights and all but jacking up prices like that is ridiculous. I'll never use Orbitz again.

Orbitz sucks. Expedia or Cheaptickets is where I always find my best prices (other than Southwest and Jetblue, of course)

All you need to do is get the flight number and airline information, then call the airline and book it over the phone for the lowest price stated on the website.

But it wasn't really hit or miss.

When I originally looked for a quote. The rate was $180 just like the other sites. When I stepped away and closed my browser, they jacked up the price about $15 per look. When I went back to Expedia, it was still $180 so it wasn't as if someone else bought tickets on the flight (which are for mid September) and I doubt anyone else would be looking for that particular flight that far in advance at 11PM.

Its just gouging at its Internet best at Orbitz it seems.

I tried that after Orbitz tried to gouge but it wasn't as cheap as Expedia.

when i was looking for tickets to vegas the prices jumped all over the place - started at 228, then jumped to 300 something (kept shifting in the 300s for a month or so), then dropped to 280 something, and finally, later that same day, dropped to 223. i purchased my ticket then. thats what i meant by hit or miss.

i hate how the prices change this frequently. its ridiculous
