Anyone notice the ever-increasing number of things that America is supposedly uniquely unable to do.

I have no issue with that. Two things matter in this particular topic. That every eligible voter has the opportunity to do so, and that the integrity of the election is absolute. Those are both achievable, the issue is that neither side want's to achieve both.

Why do you need to lie so much? Or is this just another case of you not knowing anything about the subject you speak of?

Specifically, the modern Republican party. The sad thing is that even the Republicans under Nixon believed in environmental science and regulation. The modern ones would dump radioactive waste into your swimming pool if they thought they'd get a bribe for it.

Interesting what-if. From my limited knowledge of places like England and Scandinavia (grew up in the latter) I'm not sure some of their systems could be implemented now. In politics there too there's a lot of hatred of "others"; poor, drug addicts, immigrants, "the lazy/undeserving" etc. I'd be willing to bet that the idea of giving free healthcare to everyone might not pass there if it was proposed today. Inertia is the reason things like the NHS exists, and some are doing their darnedest to undo it..

Heck there's one-armed, traumatized children coming there fleeing the war in syria, and people in sweden and norway fall over with concern that they might take advantage and get something (the most heynous of crimes: getting help, for free!!).. I don't understand the hell kind of person are have to be to deny basic help to people fleeing war and the most crushing poverty. Even hearing what these people have gone through makes me ill, but a surprising number of people coldly talk about how it'll "cost too much" or something (nevermind that immigrants are some of the most productive people).

You do know why we had those other options taken away right? Because of snowflakes and their inability to take any criticism.
Well, I'm glad they were removed in terms of 'negative rep' - it got really stupid in the tech forums.
But I'd like to have them back, with no negative rep - just as a matter of expression.

Can you explain why rep matters and why you would care about it in P&N?

Step one would be to learn the difference between not being able to do something, and choosing not to do something.

But the people choosing not to do it have convinced their supporters that we can't do it because it's "socialist" or because freedom or something.

This is it right here.

Our country's laws and regulations are controlled by the rich, for the benefit of the rich.

The majority of Americans have to work hard just to keep their heads above water.

We're to the point now where for-profit everything exists so that the people in charge with most of the money make more money, and everyone else has to incur debt for the vague potential to maybe, one day, "get ahead".

Personal property is cheap, but the things we need often brings with it massive debt accrual: house, car, education, healthcare.

Our society and our culture is broken, and the cause are the rentier class of oligarchs and aspiring aristocrats stripping any and all "extra" value out of everything, for themselves.

Death Cult Capitalism: FYGM.

I didn't care about it in P&N. I did care about it in, say, CPUs and Overclocking - where people disliked posts because they were fanbois.

What makes you think Democrats want to either

prevent eligible voters from voting
scuttle election integrity

Also, because the makers of Turbotax and similar software lobby against simplifying the U.S. tax code (because that would kill their livelihood.)

I did my own taxes literally in...30 seconds. Tops. Tap tap tap, most of it in the government's own app. Done. Didn't cost me a single penny either.

I could be making bold claims about living in the greatest country on earth, but I prefer instead of empty bragging simply letting facts speak for themselves... ;)
I didn't owe taxes this year or last. The ONLY reason I use Turbotax Premier (and I probably don't legally have to file at all) is to get my investment loss carryover from when my portfolio tanked around 2008, IIRC. If I didn't file and do the carryover, that would AFAIK disappear. It should shield me from taxes if I make a profit in my future investments. Normal Turbotax doesn't do this stuff.

Maintain election integrity

Republucan supporters have master the art of "whattabout" and "both sides" over the decades... except when it actually is both sides, then only the liberals are to blame.
