Anyone notice that LOTR has new and old world crops?

New world:
Potatoes
Corn (Treebeard says Entwives taught mortals how to grow corn)
Tobacco

Old world:
Apples (that's all I can think of right now and I don't know the trees)
Edit: Beer

I didn't see any cheeseburgers in there though. (I consider McDonald's cheeseburgers to be their own food group. Like if I am rating a nice steak or something, I'll say that it's "equivalent to 15 cheeseburgers" or something. Am I weird?)

They didn't have potatoes, corn and tobacco in the middle ages?

Hogwash. 😛

I thought Tobacco wasn't introduced to the old world until Columbus in the late 1400's.

Now that you mention it I don't see many dwarves, elves, and hobbits around.... I do see an occasional orc around however
