Anyone notice games run smoother on Windows mobile than on android?

I don't mean framerate.
I've tried 6 games briefly on both android phones: Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC one (M8), the framerate was perfect as they weren't demanding games, but every now and then there was an intermittent stutter during gameplay. It could happen once every 3 seonds, or every 10 seconds.
However when I played the same games on the Nokia Lumia 1520, everything was butter smooth. There wasn't a single intermittent stutter.

Is this just a coincidence, can anyone with a Windows phone back this up?

True background versus tombstoning/hydrating/whatever-they-wanna-call-it, most likely.

It could be garbage collection taking place and that could be fixed with the new VM in the next version of Android.

If your phone is running that much background tasks that it's influencing gaming, doesn't that mean your phone gulps battery even in idle? The idea of background tasks isn't so that you have junk processes eating up your system resources. This shouldn't be the root cause.

Will be interesting when HTC launches their M8 for windows phone to do a direct compare with the M8 Android version.

Many games are written in native code, which lacks garbage collection. However, it's certainly possible.

I have a note 2 that stutters when I play games. When I'm using my 1520 usually everything is buttery smooth. The lack of games is a different story though.

I tried out Asphalt 8 on the Lumia Icon, Note 3, and Nexus 5. All those phones have similar specs, Snapdragon 800 and 1080p display.

The game played smoothly on all three phones. However the Android version is a 1.4GB game and clearly is using higher resolution graphics. The Windows Phone version is 900MB and I can see more aliasing in the image.

Unfortunately this is my typical experience with Windows Phone apps. They usually are not as good as Android or iOS apps. Not the platform's fault. Developers just don't put much time on WP apps because that market share is so low.
