I've read/heard countless recapitulations of people being laid off, and I think every single one of them worked in the tech sector (mostly developers it seems, but many of them seem to be either new grads or lower-end). It seems to me that the situation could only get worse. Since the services I render (and most tech people) are available as a result of a strong economy, it's hard for developers to survive because no one is willing to invest in new projects. Luckily, most of my clients are still very willing to take on large projects, and I see several months of strong revenue, but things may change drastically in the next year or so.

I was planning on buying a new house next year, but I'm holding off as the future is rather uncertain. Thoughts?

[side note]Any of you Microsofties going to DevDays? I'll be going to the Dallas one on the 6th.[/edit]

I actually got a programming Internship a few weeks ago. Over here in Richmond, VA things don't look that bad in Tech.
