Nope, but I've been thinking about some alternative cooling methods for my Inspiron 8200.

I saw a guy where I think he polished his Sony, it had some kind of magnesium-aluminum chasis, and he sorta buffed it, and it was like SUPER SHINY! Looked really cool, but he said when he used his laptop outdoors, it was sorta annoying.

guapo, i didn't mean mod it performance wise, i'm pretty sure it dosent need that :p (you will all find out shortly :D )

it's too bad all those book mods are done to macs :(

I was watching techtv way back when and there was a guy that had his notebook, i'm thinking it was a toshiba tecra 9000, but he painted it a cherry metallic red, it looked really cool. anyone else know of some sites or pics?

I've got a "München" sticker on my laptop. It's silver and shiny and has a little monk on it. I think that stickers, done correctly, can make a notebook look cool and add a little personalized touch... also if you were ultra-careful with masking tape and spray paint, you could make some nice stenciled designs. Just make sure to cover up any ports/intakes/exhausts/whatever very carefully before you paint it. I would just paint the top lid, in fact... don't want to get paint on the LCD or in a drive or something.

Oh, and I have replaced the processor in my laptop... from a K6-2 350MHz to a K6-2+ 450MHz. I even O/C'd the K6-2+ to 500MHz for a while, but I decided the extra heat wasn't worth it. So yes, both kinds of mods are possible :)
