Hi,

I just bought a Sony DSC-P72 tonight online after looking at them in the stores. Any thoughts? Does anyone have it? I really dig the movie mode on it and like it's small pocketable size.

OM has the Sony DSC-P72 with 128MB and memory reader for $279 with free shipping and no rebate hassles :)

Looks nice and compact, I wonder how to compares vs the Canon PowerShot A70?

sony makes 256 'pro' but only certain(newer) sony cameras can use them.
Which Sony cameras can use the 'pro' cards? The P72 is brand new, so I would hope that it would take a pro card. Same goes for the TRV22 digital minidv camcorder I just bought.

BTW.. Sony now has a 512 mb 'pro' memory stick along with the 256 mb. I saw both at Circuit City. For $318 though, I'll just go with the 256 for $150.

I really dig this camera because it has an awesome high quality movie mode. It's only limited by the size of the memory stick. Most cameras just give you clips no matter what size memory card you use. You can also zoom the lens while you're using the movie mode. The Canon's and other camera's freeze the zoom. This Sony also takes very sharp pictures.

I don't care if it's only 3 mp. 3 mp is overkill for anything to do on the internet or email. It will make up to a 11 x 14" print. Even the 4 and 5 mp are still not as good as film yet, so I don't see the point. You'll just be doing more editing with your digital photos and taking up more space on your hard drive if you shoot in the highest resolution modes..
