I had a strange email from 'service@paypal.com.' All it contained was a routing number of some kind. No greeting, no nothing.

Having participated in this thread from yesterday, I was a little nervous, so I logged into my PP and was required to change my password and security questions. Anyone else had to change his PW for PP?

update: PayPal has now limited my access. Ironically, I can still accept payments, but cannot withdraw. I guess even with potential fraudulent activity, PayPal won't hesitate to take $$.

Yup. If you have a bank account linked I'd call the bank and halt any withdrawals by your paypal account.

Hurry.

Go to paypal immediately and change your password again just in case. It can't hurt.

Paypal has made me change passwords in the past. If you keep the same one for a while maybe that is why?

No. Hasn't been inactive. I just logged in with my new password and now I get this:

PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with secure service. Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we would like to restore your access as soon as possible.

Why is my account access limited?

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):

Jun. 7, 2004: We would like to ensure that your account was not accessed by an unauthorized third party. We understand that this may be an inconvenience but please understand that this temporary limitation is for your protection.

How can I restore my account access?

To restore your account access, please complete the remaining checklist items below. Each link can be clicked for more information on how to complete the step.

1. Add and confirm a bank account To Do
2. Confirm Location To Do

Completing all of the checklist items will automatically restore your account access.

What can I do while my account access is limited?

During limited account access, you CAN continue to use the following features:
receive payments
place logos into your auction listings or on your website
update your account information

What can't I do while my account access is limited?

During limited account access, you CANNOT:
send or request money
electronically transfer funds to and from your account
close your account

FVCK! I really don't want to link a bank account to PP. (I don't have any linked right now). Is this PayPal's way of forcing me to link a bank?!

I had to change mine as well... probably because we entered false info into that scammers link yesterday.

Out of curiousity I checked a couple of the login/pw to see if they worked... I hope I don't get bothered by paypal about it.. :-/

i don't think they make everyone change across the board. It's probably a set day period... like 90 days or 186 days... according to when you first registered... so it may not be the same day we change our passwords. The question is... do you ever recall having to change your PP password upon login ? I honestly don't.

But if you typed the URL manually, I wouldn't worry about it.
