So I just got to Portland today after spending the last few days looking online at housing options and seeing what kind of place I could find for the summer. I'm only living here through the end of August because, well, summer internships usually only last through the summer. Anyway, you'd think it would be easy enough to find a nice sublet or short term lease, right? After all, there's a decent sized school here and there are a ton of apartments. So no problem, right?🙁

Wrong. 🙁

I've called damn near everyone listed in every paper I can find, everyone that has posted online at the University of Southern Maine, and even all the ads stuck around the USM campus. What have I found? Not a god damned thing! Subleases are so easy to come by at my home school (University of Illinois) that you only pay $400 in rent for the whole summer! This Maine thing is really starting to suck. Damn you East Coasters!

So, if you live here, where should I live? You wouldn't happen to have an extra room or basement t orent out, would you? I'm clean, I love to cook, and I'm awesome. =D
 
Welcome to the NE. I live in VT, housing is hard to come by hear, impossible if you're looking for cheap. Best bet is to look for a room being rented out, or someone looking for a roommate.

I've tried those options and usually end up with a "it's already been rented" response. How can it be this hard? Sigh.

I have one lead now which I may just have to settle for. It's far, far, far from ideal but at least it's just for the summer. Time to sweet talk a girl so I can stay at her place. 🙂

No more internet for me tonight. The hunt continues!
