alright so i've lived 23 places, and my next stop is oregon, But i posted in the oregon forum, and all i get are these idiotic reply's from people who must be hiding under rocks lookin at thier sisters!! i'm not sure what thier problems are, but i was hoping someone on here could answer my questions:

are there any online free classifieds specific for oregon that are highly used?
and are there any swap meets?

also is oregon full of these redneck hicks that posted on that forum or is it generally decent people? i'm starting to have my doubt's...should i buy a ak-47 before i move out there?

Generally decent people, if you know where to look. There are several Oregonians here on these boards, myself included. Some of the very best here at AT like Brutuskend, RossMAN, and Viper GTS are Oregonians. Classifieds can be found at OregonLive.com (used to be the site for the Oregonian newspaper). There are swap meets all over the place, and often. However, unless you're looking for cars, guns, or knives, you're going to have to search a little harder for them.

Buying an AK won't help. We've got all kinds of people here in Portland. Portland is one of the most diverse cities in the nation. You'll find extreme pro and anti gun nuts, along with both ends of the spectrum for just about every other political hot topic around.

Oh, and we have the largest microbrew collection this side of the Atlantic. :D

Add BigSmooth and Eli to that list of great AT'ers living in Oregon.

I second going to OregonLive.com to search the classifieds.

I used to live in Corvallis, Oregon.

Very liberal college town, great place for mountain biking.

HA! Corvallis is nothing compared to Eugene. Now there's a liberal college town. But you are right about the mountain biking, though.

I live right between Salem and Albany. Been here my whole life and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm convinced we have the most beautiful summers in the country here. Plus, if you lead any kind of active, outdoor life you couldn't ask for a better place. Everything you could ever want is within an hours drive of my house. Coast, lakes, good mountain biking, etc.

Dude, Corvallis is conservative. I'm going to school here right now.

Then again, I grew up in Eugene, so....

As has been said before, Oregon is a beautiful place to live, with all types of people. Just don't complain about the rain! :p

I guess that means I'm on Ross's list of NOT SO great AT'ers living in Oregon.:(

Anyway, where in Oregon are you going to be living.
It's like any other state. Lots of variety.

You can find redneck hicks but you can also find liberal, pot-smoking, old hippies (you know who you are Brutuskend;)). Just depends on where you look. Portland and Eugene tend to be much more liberal and progressive while Southern Oregon and the more rural areas lean more towards the conservative and possibly redneck. But even that is too much of a generalization.

BTW: Unlike Phoenix, it's GREEN here. You might feel somewhat disoriented ;)

It's ok. I grew up in Eugene going to the Country Fair every year. So I understand.

Ha! I'm not sure what criteria you use... But it's definitely not the same as mine. :p

He must be using one of the following criteria where CA > Oregon is indeed true:
Population
Traffic
Crime
Pollution
Housing prices
Illegal immigrants
