If you can, don't buy for a while. At least, wait until the Spring.

Also, I would try to stay away from condos right now.

I am just looking for an apartment to rent at this time.

Should I sell my car and in live downtown or further out and keep the car? I am leaning towards the former.

Selling your car in DC is not adviseable, even if you live downtown. The subway system in terms of convenience is not on par with a place like New York. Even if you live downtown you will likely make use of a car, even if it's not as frequently as commuting into town.

Also, housing is basically ridiculous in the region. I graduated almost a year ago, and while I really make very little money, have no hope right now of owning my own place, or even moving out of my parent's.

Two words. Grocery shopping.

Having a car is alot better than having to haul groceries back to your place on the metro. :D

Nothing wrong with it, just that there has been a lot of articles lately (check WashingtonPost.com) indicating that there is going to be (or already is) a huge supply of condos. So, prices may go lower soon...

Owning a car in the city of Washington subjects you to the only efficient part of the DC government. They have rules and regulations to fleece car owners that are truly amazing to the uninitiated.
