Anyone Live around the DC area

I have checked Craigslist and various other sites, but I am not sure where to live as places close to the DC area are pretty expensive.

My only real requirement is that I am close to the metro so I can take it into school. I am hoping everyone might have some ideas and where to live and how to do it. Please share your experiences and how much you pay if you don't mind. Thanks...
