Just installed Ximian after finding out that it was avaiable as of last week for SuSE 7.3 along with it also being avaiable
for Mandrake 8.1 and Yellow Dog 2.1 distros. Anyways the installation was a breeze and the only configing I needed to
do was to change gnome to gnome-session in KDM via the control panel since I did not want to use GDM
as a login manager. Other then that it's been smooth sailing. :)

Here's a screenshot

I don't like Gnome as it is by default either but Ximian adds in some nice features and applications that make it a whole lot better. In the end though am still more of a WindowMaker fan myself.

i'm not really a fan of gnome/kde type desktops simply because there's way too much crap that i don't need that is included. i just install blackbox and then whatever apps i want.

that said, i do use nautilus every once in a while (it's particularly useful for organizing images, as you can see the thumbnails and whatnot. it is horridly slow though, good thing i'm not reliant on it ;)

and taskbars arent my style...neither are desktop icons.

but it certainly looks good, i will give it that :D

I can honestly say Gnome has been buggy and unstable on every computer and distro I've tried, including the latest SuSE 7.3.

I liked Ximian, except that it made Galeon unusable after I installed it. I had to use Mozilla instead.
