My friend recently got me listening to their album "Warning". It's a blast so far, how about their older stuff? Any suggestions?

I have never liked them. Once they started playing that acoustic song (Time of your life, or something) in supermarkets it turned into blind hatred.

They used to be my favorite band - 5 years ago. I tried to listen to their albums again a few months ago, and I just couldn't get into it like I used to. Maybe I'm just getting older.

Ed. Dookie is considered their best I think. I forget if Warning is the second album or not. The second album is really good too, but sounds way too close to the first one. The third one- blah (Time of Your Life is just OK), and haven't heard the fourth one yet.

I used to like them also when Dookie came out. There was a few good songs in that album but nothing good came out afterwards. I heard one of their recent songs and it was ok.

Their albums oldest to newest:
39 Smooth - Heard it was good
Kerplunk - Good ol punk-rawk
Dookie - Excellent Album
Nimrod - Another Excellent Album
Insomnaic - Not very good, but has 1 or 2 okay songs
Warning - Okay, but I was kinda disappointed
I have them all but 39 Smooth. I don't care what people say about Green Day, they are still one of my favorite punk bands.

I loved them back in like 1994/5! When Dookie was first released, their sound was very unique... i think they even won a bunch of awards... but that was the 90s... they had their time... now i like other types of music... but i'll pop them in my CD player for old times sake every once in awhile....

I think Kerplunk! is the best one, followed by Nimrod. They were on Behind the Music yesterday, it was pretty interesting.

Insomniac came before Nimrod...

Anyway, I haven't heard much of Nimrod or Warning... but their other albums are great. Dookie was a real breakthrough for the band (and then all the sell out comments started...)

For Dookie, "basketcase" introduced me the genre of punk and now I'm listening to Descendents and some of the older punk. You could say I've been searching for punks roots. :)

The new albums are just too odd, I think they're mellowing down growing into their music. It's not as rough or pissed off as much as it was back then. I like their old stuff and their new stuff. I guess people change and so do their music.

It's the same for Blink 182, I like their new stuff but the older stuff like from Buddha and Chesire Cat defined what SoCal punk was. Now their stuff is bordering on emo, it's just different. You can't hate that.

Warning is crap! Smoothed out slappy or Dookie are the best. Warning is just their sold-out-crappy-pop-shiznat.

Basketcase and When I Come Around are my two favorites, I like some of the newer stuff, but not like I loved the older ones.

Hmm, I've always liked punk rock, and accordingly never liked Green Day ;) , but damn I think Warning is great. Their older stuff (pre Dookie) is alright, but I think Warning is damn good, it's like folk punk or something. I really like it. :)

It's funny that you happened to bring this up because this morning MTV was playing practically every Green Day video ever produced for no apparent reason.
