i'm not sure if its hawaiian, but if its indian then a clue to its meaning may lie
in the fact that the large group of indian dialects belong to the superfamily of indo-
european languages.

shylani may be a derivative of shayla (or shalini). if so, then shayla is derived from
sheila, an anglicized form of síle, which in turn arises from cecilia. cecilia is the
'feminine form of the roman family name caecilius which was derived from latin
caecus "blind". according to legend, saint cecilia was a 3rd-century martyr who was
sentenced to die because she refused to worship the Roman gods. After attempts to
suffocate her failed, she had her head chopped off. She is the patron saint of music
and musicians.'
