1. Wait 2 years for Patent
2. Write lots and lots of letters
3. ...
4. PROFIT!

Take into account that things will be fairly different in two years (longhorn).

Uhm, I think if you try to sell it successfully they will buy you out and change everything around and lock you out of it.

call their headquarters in WA...you'll get transfered a lot but it will work in the end....i didn't sell them an invention, but i had something that could help them and they're probably coming out with it as a result....can i patent something if i'm underage and don't have an actual prototype? It was just an idea to combine the reciever for the keyboard, mouse, and MCE remote and have a special edition MCE keyboard...they said thanks and they're gonna pitch it to their development team....most likely will like the idea and use it.

Umm.. they don't buy patents. They just wait for you to make it, check if its successful and then roll it out with their next Windows launch with enough of a difference to circumvent your patent. They have an army of lawyers to crush puny companies as well.

Keep telling yourself that it was you who originally came up with the idea ;)

I wouldn't call this an idea so much as I would a suggestion. It looks analogous to requesting Chips Ahoy to include more chocolate chips in their cookies.

Anyway, you know how many suggestions/ideas MS gets on a daily basis? They have entire teams dedicated to handling them.
