Basically, I'm writing an economics paper on General Motors and Flint Michigan. I'm focusing closely on the factory closings that left 40,000 people without jobs. I've watched Roger and Me, but I'm having difficulty explaining WHY GM chose to leave Flint. It seems to me they were profitable throughout all of those years (although GM is not very helpful about providing older financial information).
And, before ANYBODY turns this into a Michael Moore sucks thread, please realize that I'm only using his film as part of the social impact of a collapsed one-dimensional economy. I'm not basing any facts that I can't independently verify off of the movie.
Thanks!
