just after we had our 8' fence installed to get some privacy from our neighbors behind us, who are up on a hill, i come home from work and see this being installed.

keep in mind, that fence is 8 feet tall. and from the ground level, you really can't see much into their yard which is what we wanted. and when you see that picture from above, and you see how high their deck is, you can see how tall that thing being built really is. it's gotta be like 10-15 feet off of their deck.

but i have no clue what it is, anyone know? i see those guys welding stuff together though so it's a solid metal frame. i hope it's not ugly whatever it is, i really like how we don't have to see their backyard anymore.

hah yeah i can't wait for strobe lights to be installed!

i really hope they don't have lights on it whatever it is. they leave their lights on a lot and at night it's bright as shit, and i like the fence blocking it out now.

Yeah, I can see how interacting with people face to face would be awkward. You could always look them up on social sites...of course, that would mean knowing their name. Naw, better to skulk in the safety of your basement.

that is what i'm guessing, but it just seems so high. i'm wondering if they just have it up that high while they put it together, then they are going to lower it when it's finished. it's just so high, like 15 feet off the deck.

Solar deck cover. The power will drive the bare fluorescent tube lights that will come on at dusk through dawn.

This is going to be their new sitting area (on top).
They are welding that bad boy in place.
Maybe it's a deer stand.

haha i will. yeah my wife and i were talking about that "what if they built something because they didnt like our fence?" they definitely didn't seem like those kinda people at all, very nice people.

but the top of it definitely just looks like a canopy will be draped over it, it's just crazy how tall it is.
 
It appears to be some sort of awning....either they'll put canvas on it or metal, perhaps?

I wonder how many leaves it'll hold next fall before it collapses under the weight. That's not the kind of thing I'd want to install with such a flat roof directly under those large trees.
 
They already have two frickin gazebos but I guess they need a pergola too?! People can get pretty crazy with these things:

I don't see two gazebos. Just two smaller pergolas. Looks like the thing they're putting up might be designed for giving about 30% shade/70% sunlight.
