In your BIOS, there should be an option called "Memory Hole At 15M-16M". If this option is set to "Enabled", you should change it to "Disabled".

Hope this helps.

[edit]I think this option is under the "Chipset Features" option.

Stefan you are right, but I`ve it enabled (memory hole)so I can use full DOS mode,if I disable it I cannot go into full Dos mode the screen goes blank,I do play some old Dos games now & then.
Thanks for the reply.Update reinstall of Windows98 solved screen going blank in full dos mode if I`ve memory hole disabled so now I leave it disabled..

What motherboard do you have? I have an 810E board where the onboard Video is using 1MB of Physical memory and Windows Displays 127MB of RAM under system properties.

The memory hole only affects certain *VERY* old, very rare cards.

Back when a top-end workstation would have had 16MB RAM, they inserted this memory hole to allow some high end ISA cards to use system memory instead of incurring the cost of adding 1MB on the card (around $100 at the time).

So unless you have one of these weird-a$$ cards, you shouldn't worry about the hole. Its best to leave it off.

Yes I reinstalled my WIN98,& now leave it( memory hole disabled), everything running 100% fine ,even full Dos mode, spent the last day tweaking the BIOS & also got full 128mb,don`t have any ISA cards so don`t really need to have memory hole enabled .

Does it really matter? Win98 pukes all over your memory anyway, so that 1 meg will never be missed.
