Anyone know why a burglar would only take one of each earring?

Friend's parent's house was broken into the other day. Thief got into her mom's jewelry, but only took one of each earring. I thought that was kinda strange...

Anyone have any theory as to why they would do that?

Edit: Most were of the hoop variety, not studs

Hey, I know a lady like that. She was getting her hair colored, and the dye burnt her ear off. She has this big scar where her ear used to be.

When I was in college someone broke in to our apartment. They stole my roommates palm pilot, his center speaker, and his coat. They left my brand new laptop that was sitting on the coffee table, and all his other speakers.

I couldn't help but LOL that they stole his coat.

Honestly it would be kind of funny if you were crazy rich and bored, and just did random stuff like that to mess with people. Like make it obvious you broke in, but steal nothing but just the cables plugged in to the expensive stuff. Think about walking in to your house to see a broken window, worried somebody broke in, but you can't find anything missing. Maybe a kid threw a rock or something... those damn kids! But when you try to turn on your TV or computer nothing happens. Fucking remote must be dead. Nope, button on the TV doesn't work either. After exhausing everything you can do you take a peak behind it and it's not plugged in... in fact the cable is gone. Wait... the HDMI cables are gone too. So is the power strip. What the fuck? My DVI monitor cable is gone too! ARRRGGGGHHHHHH
