Not looking for records or fabric, I'm looking for the colored vinyl with the adhesive back. Anyone know what kind of store would carry it?

<< u mean like floor tile? >>

No, it's got the thickness of poster board, but is glossy and solid colors on one side, strong adhesive on the other. It's commonly used to make decals and graphics for cars.

Edit ...decals and graphics for cars...

Go to a local sign shop. They can probably sell you something, or make exactly what you want.

The vinyl used for making graphics for Ricers, er, automobiles is very thin. Not thick at all. But Ornery's idea is right on the money. I was going to recommend a fabric store, as I buy my vinyl there (use it for covering trim panels for car stereo installs) but it doesn't have an adhesive backing.

That's exactly what I'm doing (interior/stereo work). K, I'll check a fabric store. Thanx

You're covering door panels, aint' 'cha? :D The fabric store will have it. If you have a "chain" of them (here in TX, there 's one called "JoAnn's" they are all over...) try them first as they'll have the biggest selection.

EDIT
To get the vinyl to stick to MDF/fiberglass, use 3M "90" spray adhesive. It's very expensive ($10/can) but worth every dollar. One can was enough for me to cover roughly a 4 x 6 foot piece of wood. Good luck.
