We've only got A's in the UK atm so Im thinking Barton.

But damn those 1800+'s overclock just about as good as the 1700+'s assuming i read the same article as you :D

Hey Shimi, I installed a better PSU (Antec true 380) w/ my DUT3C JIUGB 1800+ and it seems to have removed the OC ceiling I was experiencing: I got it up to 1.9 and 2.0GHZ on pretty much default voltage (1.625)... But, now my problem is heat! w/ an SK6+ it was doing about 85'C.

So, I took out the HSF, lapped w/ 600 grit paper, reapplied ASIII, and now its idling @ ~55'C (190MHz FSB and 10x), which a little high for my liking.

Now, I am contemplating a water cooling setup so I can try 2.2/2.3GHz or returning the chip...

What do you think???

ask yourself... is spending $200 dollars to get out an extra 100-200mhz from a chip worth it?

to me: yes!

to you: ???

or you might just try getting a new DLT3C 1700+ and ocing that baby to 2.2 to 2.3 w/o water...

these things are hitting aorund the 2.3 to 2.4 mark so... yeah....

$200 vs. $80

or in my case... $200 + $80 :) :) :)

i'm happy about my water setup... runs great... keeps my temps fairly cool (can't really tell cuz the stupid abit board reads temps high but i dunno exactly by how much...

Well... For a short while, I was thinking about a vapochill... But then figured $600 is a bit too much for cooling! :D And, since I am starting to get hooked on this OC stuff (few months now) I figure water is the best value for the type of performance you get. I don't buy the argument that water is too expensive, since if one adds all expenses for different HSF and fans to try and get best case cooling... they add up quick.

Any recommendations on water setups? I see you have a swiftech MCW5000, are you happy w/ it? what about DangerDen's MazeX?

swiftech is a good block

i dunno too much aobut the maze series... lots of people have them though...

my water setup with shipping ran a little over 200 ....

so yeah... go for it if ya want...

but air cooling will alwys be cheaper thanwater... (assumming you are reasonable about it)

air cooling cost for me:
slk 800 = 30
tt smart fan = 15
45 total... that's all i spent on air cooling

water
waterblock
radiator
hosing
pump
splitter
clamps

now water starts adding up FAST!

so yeah... i'll stick with water for a while... see how happy it keeps me... then i'll move on to a pelt system :) a few hundred more but still cheaper than prometeia

Depends on how much faster a processor $200 would buy. Currently $200 is good only if your talking XP3000+(333), all other chips dont have that much $$$ headroom.

what i meant was not buying a new processor but buying a water setup to squeeze out another 100 to 200 mhz out of a chip with water...
