Anyone know where I can find 'known good' Q6600 or Q6700?

I need two procs, either Q6600 or Q6700 for a couple of Revit workstations.. Problem is that ebay has no new BIN and neither cpu is available from CDW, newegg, buy.com, provantage, etc since they're technically phased out by Intel.

I'm fairly leery of the used processors on ebay and elsewhere, these need to be new or 'known good' processors. I don't have time to ship stuff back or deal with lapped tops and crap.

Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated

When you say "known good" do you mean in the sense of overclocking? If not, then either the CPU works, or it doesn't work. Just buy from a source that stands behind what they sell and have a good track record. Any place that still has them new are either really expensive or really shady.

I really don't mind if they're a bit expensive as long as they're NIB. These are going into production CAD workstations so I really can't afford to have ANY issues at all.

Hey. I still have one NIB, but that was for my second quad build. I think I bought it a year and a half or two years ago. It was before the Q6600 G0s stopped being good overclockers. It's twin, bought at teh same time, clocked up to 3.6 easily.

I've just been lazy building my quad-cores.

Does the OP really need a Q6600? I don't want to part with mine. Maybe a Q8200 would suffice?

Too risky, I'd rather buy something from fs/ft...

Actually my sales guy at mnjtech.com says he was able to find some.. I'll update tomorrow.

....and just in case it heads that way, They're a competitor to CDW.. My sales guy is great, he does much more legwork (imo) than what you get out of most of the people at CDW.

If you don't find a couple, I have two used that you could depend on I can pull out of working boxes.
