AFAIK suse stopped having free downloads of their releases with the last one. I for one am planning to spend 30 bucks on june 15th when it's released.. They should have a downloadable "demo" version that runs from the cd
BTW I was upset with this at first. but the GPL says you have to provide the source code with the OS. it doesn't say you have to put it on the net to download. so anyone could put it on a server after buying it. The GPL is internet unaware
That's not exactly correct. Suse is pulling some funny crap regarding copyrights. They use a non-GPLed installer, and they've copyrighted the specific arrangement of binaries in a compiled iso image so they could probably successfully sue you if you put an iso image of their boxed distro package on the net.
OpenBSD does stuff similar to this. It disgusts me.
