Did Logitech stop making the damn things? They're out at Newegg and all the other usual places and J&R and B&H are sold out here locally...

Why do want to buy them, they are huge pos. They suck, no bass, unless you like music to sound as if you jacked the eq bass all the way up. You need to get these:
they kick the ass :p

I think we have a couple of sets for sale at my office.

I own a set of them and a set of Klipsch Ultra 5.1's. The Klipsch's are far superior IMO.

Being serious though :) Dell got them in stock right now for $309.

And I knew the above replies were going to come, hence why I made the first one. I own 2 sets of the Z5500's and I owed the Klipsch before I got the Z5500. If you like to turn your bass down when you want to jam and have amps go out on you buy Klipsch. I had 2 2.1 and one ultra amps go bad and had it with them. These sound just as good IMO with the pluss I can crank them to max without having to turn the bass down or hearing the sub pop when the bass its at loud volumes.

I have one dedicated as a HT set up and one on my pc, but to each their own I suppose. And yes OIP your right they are Sold out everywhere, wonder whats up there. Must really be pushing the wireless set up, Z5450 set up. Dell was the cheapest and only place I could find in stock.

If Logitech ditches the z-5500s and Klipsch ditches the Promedia Ultras, seems like there's going to be a hole in the $150 - $400 surround speaker set range.

Nah Klipsch will keep producing and if they dont change their amps our buidling of their amps then there is going to be alot more pissed off people bitching about amps popping and having to pay $50 to get them fixed.

Dont get me wrong they sounded nice at low to mid volume but once you go past half way the bass stated to pop on heavy bass songs and you had to cut the bass down. Kinda sad for what you pay for them to have to do that when you can max the volume and bass with the logitechs and they can handle it. But to me at low volume they sound on par with each other. Well that and the lack of digital inputs. I have 2 digital inputs along with analog with the Logitechs which is really nice to have for the HT set up.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not about the CAs o_O....they're actually decent speakers for the price, when I went from my old ABIT IC7-G onboard sound to an Audigy 2ZS with a simple set of 2.1 CA speakers, I couldn't believe the difference in quality. Then I went to some Creative 5.1 something or others, barely any gain in quality.

Are you sure on Klipsch?

I heard rumors that they were being discontinued.

They're also much harder to find now.

Oh you must not know me that well then, I plug the Z5500's every where when I get a chance becasue they are great speakers. I linked thoes because I know the Z5500's would get bashed and thought I would make a funny and be the first one and everyone who knows me would get that I wouldnt say anything bad about the Z's.

But I have actually heard though the CA's are not that bad of a set for the price. Not Z5500 good but under $100 good and the best in the under $100 range. I almost bought a set before buying a set of Z560's few years ago. Still may pick one up for my son when his set of really old Altec Lansing goes bad (my very first good 4.1 pc speakers, att, I bought 4+ years ago, still chugging along surprisingly).

And no I havent come across the Klipsch being discontinued. I dont read up on that brand anymore, guess I will take a look. Really going to suck and leave a hole though, Yello, if'n your right.

Not me, I will continue to keep mine till they work no longer. At that point will open them up and replace the transistors or caps that blew making them work again. They will have to catch on fire and bring the house down before I will throw my set away :)
At that point I may pitch the sub but the sats will get used for other applications like I did with the Klipsch Sats.

Dell says 6+ weeks, which usually means out of stock with them...

Damn Im sorry then, try egay?

This listing has 3 sets left.

And unfortunately there is that listing and only one other on ebay out of Canaduh. Thats is. Looks like your choices are really limited here. Either they are really not making anymore or the new set is going to be released soon. I sure home a new set is coming out soon to replace them other then the Z5450 ones.

Damn... basically $400 with shipping, not to mention that I absolutely hate Egay.

Going to really suck if i buy these things and a new set comes out next week, but then again the dorks at Logitech didn't show anything at CES...

Bah.

I live in NYC, I don't have space for all that crap, specially a giant receiver.

I specifically want the Z-5500's because of the small size and the digital inputs so i can connect my Xbox 360 to it.

Fair enough :p

Shoo jello, the Z's would spank that system anyway in terms of sound quality and bass. OP same reason I did it and the fact it sounds really good. I have on my table a 3do, dc, xbox, gc, ps2, Logitech POD, controllers and remotes for it all, and my projector. I wouldn't have any room for a receiver if I wanted one, my table between the rockers is full ;)

Word of advice though. If you get your Z5500's go to justdeals.com and pick up some X680 speakers (the older set before the 5500), they sound a ton better then the newer set. More mids, and you can turn around and ebay the speakers that come with the 5500. I did that when I got my 2 sets and they pulled in $100 for all 5 (x2 for I had 2 sets). Well worth the swap out, trust me. They sound fine with the ones they come with, I did the mistake one day hooking up my old X560 speakers (same as the Z680) to the Z5500 and was blow away with the diff in sound. Slightly bigger cones, heavier magnets, same ohms, but a big difference in sound. Had great same highs just gave more punch to the mids.

If I get my Greywolf II 120" screen I been bugging the wife about (after everything gets paid and we have any tax refund money left) I will then have room for a Wii system.
