Anyone know when the new phones are coming to Verizon?

I realize that is kind of vague, but I am planning on switching from AT&T to Verizon and want to wait until the new phones come. I don't want to buy a Droid X or HTC Incredible now and then have the new batch of phones released right after. I know the HTC Thunderbolt was just announced, but I have no idea when it will be available. Any ideas?

Late 1Q11, most will come in 2Q11. Might see the single core Thunderbolt and LG models before sooner, but it feels like Verizon is delaying their dual core phones to not impede their iPhone sales.

Late. If you have grandfathered unlimited data, don't switch! AT&T will have the better phone lineup when the iHerd goes Verizon.

It's still all rumors and speculation.

I realize that. I just don't want to buy a Droid X or HTC Incredible this week and then be regretting it because something comes out this month. If I have the phone for a few months, I can deal with that.

Or get OG Droid and overclock.

Remember, LTE (and the #%@# iPhone) will probably be joined to a pricing structure change (including data caps). So, not sure what to suggest.

VZW is holding an event on Tuesday in NYC, not much else makes sense other than the iPhone being announced. Now when it will come out is a whole different question.

Well, to be honest the Iphone news has made my decision harder. The fact that it is 3G and that you need to sign for 2yrs is not good news for me. If it had the newer technology, or even had a 1yr plan, I think I would be down since I have a feeling that they will milk it for a bit before releasing the new droids. I am not sure what to do now. Do I buy an Incredible, a Droid X on a 1yr plan, and wait to upgrade, to a new phone, or do I get the Iphone on the 10th?

Yeah, signing a 2yr contract on a year old phone, with no LTE, two weeks before Apple likely announces the IP5 refresh doesn't sound like a good move to me.

IP5? I will be on verizon. Apple announcing another phone on verizon in 2 weeks? I don't think so. My point being that my decision is based on the timing for verizons line.

I've also been considering this for a little while, since my Chocolate 2 is very slowly dying a slow death and I need to get a new phone ASAP. In the next two months or so, even with outdated hardware the iPhone 4 will probably still be the best phone on Verizon, unless you like one of the bigger droid variants. I doubt Apple will be releasing a new iPhone 5 on Verizon/LTE in May/June - that's way too soon. By doing so they know they're going to screw over all the millions of people who are undoubtedly going to mass migrate to Verizon for its iPhone in February. As such, my guess is either - Apple does a different CDMA iPhone refresh schedule, apart from the GSM one, six months later; or Apple waits a year and a half for the NEXT refresh to line up CDMA and GSM iPhone versions. Of course, that's my guess, but I don't know that much about the phone market so I'm probably wrong.

Personally I don't care for LTE and it's $50/mo plan, and I don't care for the 4"+ phone screens when I keep my phone in my pocket at all times. The Droid Incredible has been my target phone basically since it was released but it's getting a little long in the tooth and is outclassed by the iPhone IMO.

I'm hoping for the Moto Atrix for Verizon. That thing is siiiiiiick. Might be the thing that finally drives the nail in the coffin for my need for a PC/laptop.

No way, not any time soon. With all the data caps, you won't be able to do many of the things still on any mobile phone that you can do on a real computer.

Buying an iPhone 4 on Verizon shouldn't be a hard choice for anyone. Even those who are betting on Apple announcing an iPhone 5 for Verizon withing a few months. You buy the iPhone, even paying a ETF you'll still be able to make a KILLING selling it 6 months down the road if the iPhone 5 hits. Then you can pick up an iPhone 5 and still have money in your pocket. It's a complete no brainer.

I got my Droid 1 7 months after it came out for $150 on CL, an iPhone 4 for Verizon will fetch you at least 2 times what you paid for it. And it'll sell within hours of listing it if you live anywhere with a decent amount of people.

If I start a new account with data do I have to buy a phone from them on the spot when I start?

I like the idea of just buying an old droid and waiting for the new ones to come out but would i be eligible for the discount price if I've already had my account for a few months?

Yes right? I'd just sign my contract at that point?

Pure speculation on my part, but Apple does typically announce iPhone refreshes early in the year, with a late sprint/early summer availability. If they follow suit, I'd expect to here an announcement for the fifth generation iPhone at MacWorld at the end of the month.
